TW wrecks a perfectly good Commando etc.

I'll give you a Free consultation, no need to wait another month. What the MRI shows is spinal stenosis of the cervical spine between C-5 and C-6. There are 7 cervical vertebrae. Then it's off to the thoracic spine, T-1. Disc spacing looks normal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laminectomy You are lucky you only have it in one area/vertebrae. I will post 2 MRI's below. The diagnosis for treatment/surgery is a laminectomy between C-3 and C-7 and then a spinal fusion from C-2 to T-1. On a positive note, at least you have good machinist capabilities, you could always make your own titanium rods and screws. :) Also make sure you have a neurosurgeon who specializes on the spine do the work. As far as your right arm pain, it eventually can travel down to your legs, then you will have trouble walking like I do. I wish I had your problems. I'm considering getting surgery soon, I'll let you know how I make out. Good Luck

That is some sobering reading, I hope that works out as far as some return to normality.

I see the Neurosurgeon/Spinal surgeon (A fellow New Zealander) on the 20th (as posted) so will have to wait until then to see what the options are.
Fine a few weeks ago, a change overnight.

TW, so what's the verdict? If it's just a small laminectomy and fusion, get it done before you end up like me. Therapy and injections don't fix stenosis, and there are no non invasive procedures. One vertebrae is better than 6.

I flew back to work (13 days ago) as that appointment would have meant missing another work swing so rescheduled for my next R&R (Fly home next Friday) making sure they knew I was a FIFO worker and only had a five day window and booked and was confirmed for that week.
A few days after returning to work they change the appointment to when I would not be there (Back at work)
I then had to rebook for the following R&R so will not be seen until the 5th of April.

I do not have any problems (arm is fine, neck seems fine) so should be good until then, it is only an assessment so any form of operation will be months away.
If the arm nerve pain was to return as per a month ago, I would simply quit the job and try to bring things forward.

Thanks for the 'reaction Grandad.
The TR4A (IRS) will arrive tomorrow, a totally rust free car rebuilt from the ground up.

My last British car was an 1100 Clubman in 1981 which cost $490.
