Gearbox works well and smoothly on gear changes. Not been stripped down, and not run that many miles in the last 15 years or so, although it HAS run without any issues.
Anyone interested please make an offer. Not sure how much delivery will cost, but can get a quote if required.

Message me for any further info and pictures...

I would think that transmission would/could work on all but the MkIII, no?

...and could even be fitted to a MkIII by replacing the outer and inner covers and a few shifter bits...

(unless I'm wrong, in which case it will be pointed out straight away)

I'm sure you are correct concerning other models (apart from the Mk lll!

It is a standard AMC casing after all!

To fit a pre-Mk3 gearbox case to a Mk3 (with the standard left-foot gearchange) the quadrant boss would need to be machined down and Mk3 quadrant, bush and circlip used.

OK. Cheapest is around £65 for 8-12 days delivery, or around £125 if you want faster delivery. Prices do not include full insurance cover.

The listing says it will fit "Commando's up to Mk 3, Atlas and Dominators". You might want to note that it will fit Atlas and Dominators if internal components are changed (not included).

It will EITHER fit a Commando OR a pre-Commando. It will NOT fit BOTH!

The "clocking" of the cast-in mounting bolt holes (maybe just the bottom one) is DEFINITELY different.

You CANNOT swap them.

(and that item # 174593368814 does not come up...)

Are you thinking of the Matchless AMC gearbox?

Buy a $1000 / $1300++ gearbox where you have no idea of the actual condition of the internal parts nor does the seller ?
Yikes and it does not look very Commando.

Braver than me but good luck with the sale.

Oh. As it is a self contained gearbox, what internal components need to be changed?

I apologise. I listed what I had been told, basically. I will amend.

N12986 casting is a pre-Commando gearbox. The outer cover is pre-Commando as it has the earlier clutch cable entry position.
Edit: Mainshaft appears to be Commando.

The gearbox came from a 910 Commando, it was then installed onto a new frame which was built for a Commando engine, and it fits. I'd say it was a Commando gearbox. The main casing certainly looks the same as the parts drawings.
As for your other comment, the price is deliberately low due to the unknowns, although I have run with it and I would vouch for it's operation. £480 = $652 - not sure where you converted prices come from.
Of course, you can always get a complete unit from ANI for £1690 if you prefer....
