Hi to all

I did repaint my 74 commando and wish to replace all the cables. Can I take another company instead of Barnett? In would like to have stainless covered cables.

Thanks

Phil

Try motion pro in the US.. They have several different styles at very reasonable prices and excellent quality. I had tacho and speedo cables made in braided for my CR750 Rickman. very nice.

Venhill cables.

http://www.venhillusa.com/, teflon lined cables.

+1 Do a search here, the Venhill Featherlite is a great improvement. Stainless? As in blingy braided stainless? Form follows function...

Would another make and model fits on my norton. For example, would a Suzuki cable would fit? Because I cannot find cable covered with stainless for the brake. It would add a nice look to the bike.

As I remember, all the cables we used at N-V came from a manufacturer in the Bristol area whose "factory" was a bunch of hen cabins on an old chicken farm. He had developed a way of impregnating both the stranded-steel operating cable and the inner lining of the outer cable with Teflon. You could tie a knot in to outer shesath and pull it as tight as you could and it didn't affect the force needed to pull the inner cable.

I remember driving our company Transit van down to his place to pick up batches of cables. It might be that we only used them on the AJS moto-cross team bikes, as I don't remember picking up production quantities but maybe 30 or so each time.

I have nothing add except Venhill / UK were very good to deal with.

It would be great to see a thread that had postings of Mr Damps recollections of his days at NVT.
Anything, no matter how trivial. :)
