Again, sympathy levels are at an all time low here.

:)

Oh come on guyyyys ... lol. well hopefully i can get more info on the bike and get started bit by bit on getting this thing running.

lol!

hah well i hope to save this bike for my kids, and then my kids kids.

Does anyone have a suggestion for rust inside tank and parts on how to take it fully off?

i heard Rustico and i have read a lot on them.

I don't know if you can buy the acid part of the Kreem kit seperately, but it works pretty well.

I use 2 quarts of CLR* mixed with equal amount of very hot water, slosh it around, then let it soak.

I've heard plenty of stories of using muratic acid (danger), I believe air conditioning coil cleaning acid is a good alternative.

*CLR = Calcium, Lime & Rust remover

I have to head to home depot so ill pick up some CLR, can i boil up some water? or thats a bit much?

Do you think its a good idea to do the following?

Powder Coat the Forks, Frame Top Engine black?

Lower Part of engine clean and polish?

I want to put leather on the Seat.

where can i get all the cables from? throttle, clutch, air aircable, etc.

Is there anyone here that i can send my carb to so they can tune it on their bike ? =(

Wheels, i want to get white wall tires?

polish the exhaust.

Tank paint black over and then put Norton sign back on in that yellow/goldish color?

Pictures are always deceiving but isn't it good enough to get running and ride, maybe new tires?

The tires are actually really good. super, they just need air. they have atleast 90% left.

Looks in great shape to me... I'd ride it as is for years. Maybe get the tank painted back to original, but looks pretty good the way it is.

Nice to see another 16H has joined the fold and I see you are on the wdnorton site now as well so you may well have answered many of these queries from the links on there.
Carb tuning, these are pretty low performance machines so i would just stick with the factory settings unless you are at altitude? If things are badly worn the new parts or a general refurb might be in order. Amal are making new 276's these days, or just parts.
Norton tank logo - transfers are available on line (vintage motorcycle club uk among others), don't use the Commando ones they are too big for that era.

i want to actually check the brakes, and also change oil, gas lines, check pet cock, chain, tank, brake lines and clutch and all other ones.

Be really careful if those tires are much more than 8 or 9 years old. Regardless of how much tread is left, the innards of the tires can go rotten, then suddenly there's a loud bang and you're on your butt!

In the RV world, where the tires are often more heavily loaded than on motorcycles, the unofficial rule is to replace them at 7 years. With duallies on the back, that can be a $2500 expense, but it's much cheaper than a roll-over and write-off.

ah the thing is the prev owner actually rode it. so the tires are recent :) i just want white wall :) but whats the size!?
