I was contacted by this service which states that they can repair bores up to .060. I haven't used them, but I do have a 750 barrel that wants to go to +.060 (which I know it can't) I'm thinking of sending them to see if they can bring it back to +20 or +40. I don't have a project or customer that needs this service yet, but the service may be of interest to forum members that have barrels at death's door.

Again, I haven't used them, but have spoken with them. You'll need to send them your barrel and the pistons you want to use, they plate the bores and will adjust the clearance to whatever you specify.

Any reference to pricing is dealer net, so the actual cost, to individuals will be higher.

I made similar inquiries about a service in Canada, in Vancouver BC called Mongoose Machine.
I agree, if the cylinders are good except at the top of the wear limit, it sounds attractive.
Particularly when you consider the high cost of new cylinders.
BTW, US Chrome's pricing shows retail, with dealer discounts available.

Will it work with Norton rings, they are designed for cast iron barrels, I believe you need different spec rings for Nicasil.

I can't say, I have no experience with the process. If this offers you an alternative to barrel replacement I suggest that you call the business and get a straight answer. Do, please share the information.

True. Chromed ductile iron rings don’t work well with chrome plated bores or hard faced cylinder bore liners such as those coated with nickel/carbide coatings. Use of unplated steel rings is recommended. If unavailvable, ductile iron rings may be used by unplating them using muriatic acid according to reports. I have no personal experience in unplating piston rings.

I used to rebuild Briggs & Stratton lawn mowers and we had the "cool bore" pistons, which are chrome plated, for aluminum bore blocks. The instructions specifically said NOT to use them in cast iron sleeved blocks but when I did my own I had no choice because of the parts availability so I thought "what the heck," and went ahead. I put in the chrome rings as well. The thing never would wear out!
So, in my opinion it would be great to run the aluminum pistons in a chrome bore with cast rings. All dissimilar metals and no unwanted welding (seizing) going on. Cast rings are the most readily available for Nortons any way.
