new seat came today I call it po boy corbin came from a place called Bike Seat Factory way Down Yonder in Vietnam took just 20 days to get to NC from Saigon I mean Uncle Ho City appears to be very good quality has metal pan $189...…...whaddy think
new seat

Do you want us to lie to you? My opinion, which counts for nuttin', is the seat has a bad fit compared to a Corbin. Go to their website and compare looks. The front and the back don't fit right.
Sorry but you asked and I am feeling especially honest today.
If I had the money I'd get a Corbin.
Your bike by the way is gorgeous.

I'd like to see a top view. Where the middle of the seat meets the gas tank seems really high, is it? If so I'm sure it can be modified. Are you comfortable when you ride? It's a nice looking seat except for the middle section.

have a foam pad under front on frame backbone will remove tomorrow I just 'stuck it on' to see how it looked...rear brackets need a little tweaking too will find out how it feels tomorrow morning

If it fits your body and is comfortable then good to go .... the fit to bike is secondary and maybe possible to mod it’s fit around tank and rear fender tighter .... comfort first !

It'll be alright. I've nothing against a good deal either, and I've also got a full set of tweakers to launch an assault at a moments notice. I am fully capable of beating most anything into submission anyway.

without front pad and with slight tweak of rear brackets should be able to get it tucked in front and rear no problem...I will do that after tomorrow morning's outing ya'll have a great evening

I’m with Guido. You bought a cheaper copy of a Corbin, and that’s what it looks like IMHO.

Nothing wrong with that, if you’re happy with it, that’s all that counts.

But (again only IMHO) you have a first rate bike there, if it were mine I’d always be looking at it thinking “hmmm, that seat...”

The Corbin on my Commando was $565 Canadian , several yrs later Corbin for Griso was $800 our money , prices include shipping and tax .... Alan’s seat once fitted is real bargain if he finds it pleasant place to sit ....

If it's comfortable I don't believe his ass will care at all. Once its tucked up the looks should be good....Just saying.
I paid 200 for an older seat I can't stand, but it works and doesn't look bad....Not comfortable either..like sitting on unfired brick.

I didn't know it was just sitting there and not fixed to the bike. Tomorrow Alan says he will fix it. I would like to see it then and if it looks right then I would buy one too.
But from Vietnam? North or South?

God forbid you post a picture of a seat that’s not fully in place or you leave a couple tools out on the bench...

So, when someone specifically asks for our opinion, are we only supposed to comment if we 100% like it?

That’s an easy fix swoosh, we could all just not answer.

Post a question... listen for tumbleweed blowing... cool forum !

I need an interstate seat myself and have been agonizing over which one to get because the "cut down" roadster seat that I am currently using looks disproportionate with the bigger fuel tank, and the old seat has a few rips in it too, so it's gotta go. I want it to look right, so I image search for "interstate commandos" and compare the looks of interstate's with all the various seats available. There are quite a few out there that I like, and many I don't like. I'm still on the fence, so no decision yet...

Nice bike! Wannabe seat detracts from the bike and will always be noticeable unless what is shown is not
a fully installed seat and magic will make it ultimately look like a Corbin. It's just money. Do it right.

I'm going to have a seat rebuilt by a local but have one concern...
If you have a steel base, what is the recommended method of fixing the cover to the base?
It is and interstate so requires custom fitting (apparently there are a variety of tank lengths - hence Corbin don't do a stock interstate seat)
Any advice welcome!
Cheers
Rob

I’m likely going to try one of these seats. Probably the same company as above.

aint no north or south Vietnam it's one country .remember that fuss they had over yonder back in the 1960s? I still have the stock seat in excellent condition and chrome grab rail if I don't like the new one and am out only around $200 verses $500 or more...seat is held to base with prongs and glue as best I can tell stitching and quality of vinyl is very good...my seat came from bike seat factory
