MK 111 76. Need new rubber , this forum says go with Battlaxe BT 45 ,but I need to know the correct size for my stock 19 " rims before I order in 2 from Canada's Motorcycle. Thanks.

I am curious about that too, because I have had BT-45's on other bikes and really like them. But the only 19's they offer are 100/90-19 and 3.25-19. Both fronts.

Not sure how the Battlaxe compare to the Avon AM26 size wise but I have used 100/90-19 on both WM2 and WM3 rims on my '75 without any problem. There is a lot written about 100/90 on a WM2 rim being a problem. I did it for almost 2 years with no issue (wore out the rear). Also on my Gold Wing Continental says you can put 100/90 on a WM2. Not their first choice but it will show up on their fitment chart.

This Dennis Kirk site is U.S.A. so it's not so cost effective due to the Cdn dollar.. But will note the M.ake n' size.

Believe or not ... I have had a set of Maxxis on for the past couple of years .... based on a old time mechanic`s word ... he said they stick pretty good and last a long time .... have been good enough for me .... don`t know if I`d do it again though ... waiting to wear them out and try something else ... though, really I have no complaint ...

Need size order details RE: Maxxis. Need more details re: Canadas Motorcycle site , 2 choices ,one a V. Just need regular roadgoing tires. No racing stuff. :)

Sorry ... I have 19" on front and 18" on rear ... one reason he said Maxxis was he could match up the overall height ... so if you want the front size I can go out to shed and get the numbers .... they would both be same as front if you running original rims ... yes my front is original ... be right back ...
Craig
ps I think they were both well below $100 CAD at the time .... my local shop got then in 2 days ...

Maxxi details ... front is 100/90-19 57H Promaxx Street ... made in Taiwan .... 40psi max. ... it say tubeless but obviously that does not apply ... like I said no problems ... perform as advertised ... inexpensive ...

Walridge usually has a sale on near end of year and Avon Roadrider AM26 are usually in there. Food for thought.
Cheers,

No Walridge tire sale last year so why would I wait for possible xmas listing. My AM26 tires ruptured from extreme -30 crap for 5 weeks last February just sitting in a garage so want to try different. Canada.

Interesting  Pete
do you have pictures of these ruptured tires?
I have never experienced this to date and all my AM26s came from Walridge motors. I keep my bike in a garage and temps go down below freezing but not -30. what is the date of manufacture on the failed tires?
show the forum please.

Tom

I have trouble posting photos like many here. I'll go outside now and peel off Crazy Combat cover to find date. Big cracks on both. Could only be the last brutal -30 C. winter. That's what we heard after a winter in Mexico recovering with the busted kicker leg. :?

O.K. , I have DOT ATIF 5009 EII - 001517 Roadrider 100/90-19 57V. Perhaps they are simply old but plenty of tread left and I will not use them now after that winter cold damage. :o

Looks like a tire manufactured in 2009
Use photo bucket. LAB has a how to to show your cracks. I am interested as well as a few others on this forum.
where are the cracks? on the side walls or chunks off the tread area?
Tire pressure? what did you run?

Sure wish I could post photos but all the cracks are in the sidewalls. Tread is fine. Almost looks dried out , but -20 or more , for 5 weeks straight has to be a huge factor ,winter air is very dry at those temps. :!:

Its only 6 years old. I would really like to see these cracks. I have seen TT100's with cracks on the side walls but they were +30 years old.
Did you talk to Mike Partridge about your AM26?

I just bought another TT100 410x19 yesterday [ made in Indonesia though when the last one I bought was made in Japan ]. I chose those because they are the correct rolling diameter for the bike, and you can fit them easily. The 100-90 fits ok but it is at least 1" smaller in rolling diameter [ only about 3 miles an hour difference at 62 mph ]. I once fitted a 400x19 to the rear but it was wider and too big in diameter.

Recently took a tire to a dealer to install as I simply couldnt get it mounted. First time in my life. It was a Avon Speedmaster 400-18 on a wm3.
Sidewalls like made from rock.
TT100 19 inch were not a major problem mounting by hand at all. Esp new tires. Old ones get hard and are tough to handle.
So my question is, can I mount the new metric sized Avons you are talking about by hand?
