Hi again everyone I have been posting under Norton because I did not see this section but now i have found it i will start again, I have just purchased a 1960 Triton slimline frame with T110 bottom end and 9 stud bonnie top end and norton box with triumph primary cases running an alternator even though the crankcases are dynamo the timing chest has been blanked off with what i would think is a dynamo end plate cut down, I will try and post some pics but I am no techy whizz kid so please offer advice if it does not work, there are several things I wish to do it the first is, it has a very nice fibreglass tank which I am told has never been treated the previous owner used an additive which he says counteracts the harm that ethanol does and I have forgotten the name of it so that would be useful the second is there anyone in the uk who will professionally treat the tank so I can use it with what we now call petrol, next the rearsets are not up to standard and also I am looking to purchase at a reasonable price alloy fuel and oil tanks used or new, also the bike at the moment has siamese pipes and one goldie I want swept backs and goldies are the swept back ones I need just standard swept backs for a triumph 650 twin does being in the norton frame throw up any problems thanks in advance for any help Chris

I bit the bullet today and ordered the alloy tank from TAB11 he did me a deal and has one in stock so now looking for swept backs and silencers there is a new pair advertised for a triumph 500 twin pre unit will they fit my 650 9 stud head and are there likely to be any other problems fitting them also looking for rear sets for amc box, many thanks everyone

I don't care for the swept bike pipes as they are in the way of the engine covers on both sides.

The only true purpose of them is to fit inside a full fairing.

I take your point on obstructing access but siamese pipes remind of riding an old combination with a double adult sidecar which is somewhat different to the cafe racer look I have always loved, I know there is not much practicality to it but only need to access when something goes wrong and who knows I might have the only reliable one (ha ha) Chris

You can see the PROBLEM here with low left pipes and Triumph clutch / Cover .

Dave has Two Barcelona winners, the one you show being the first one from 1965, pre unit in Manx frame. The second from 1972, unit engine in a Dresda frame.

I put his '72 Barcelona winner in the gravel trap at Brands Hatch in '96 ! I was gutted, but being a racing pro, Dave just took it as 'one of those things'.

Still, to make ammends, I did put the labour in to rebuild it with him.
