Hi,
I found your site years ago but since I don't have a Norton (yet) just Triumphs & Japanese, I've stayed with the Britbike forum which I've enjoyed for many years, and like that forum, this one seems to be visited by some really enthusiastic and knowledgeable people and not to much drama. My current project (for to many years) is a C&J framed street bike with a '73 TR7 based engine that is getting a MAP nicasil 825 barrel and 89mm billet offset crank, I've always wanted to build a really big Triumph since I started riding Triumphs in the late '60's and now that I'm in my 60's I decided I better do it (for better or worse).

I decided to join the forum yesterday when I found an older post by Pete V. on putting a Mikuni TM40 pumper carb on his Commando and since that was something I was considering for the big Triumph I thought I better get on here.

A quick profile on me is as follows; I'm 62 yrs. old, live in the San Francisco Bay area and moved to southern Calif. to use my GI bill to go to school in 1975, spent 30+ years as an aircraft/helicopter mechanic and am now retired. I have owned Triumphs since my first '66 Bonneville that I bought used in '68 and rode to highschool '68-'69. I still have it but it's disassembled and waiting for restoration as are a '67 TT, a '70 T120 among others. Thanks for what looks like a great forum...Mark

Welcome Mark, that big Triumph sounds like the " cats Pajamas " as a pal from San Fran used to say. I haven't been up your way in many years, I live behind the Orange Curtain south of Los Angelos but spent a lot of my kidhood in the 60's up your way.. Please post some pictures of your Triumph as it moves along, and yes this is a good forum with a min of silly drama, not to say it's totaly free from it but seems to me it's less then others, has more of a adult experianced membership that is quite willing to help everyone. Hope you enjoy it. Glenn.

Hi Glenn, I went to Northrop and my older brother was living in Costa Mesa at the time trying to make it as a pro AMA road racer on Kawi H1R followed by more successful TZ250 Yam, so I would ride my Z1 down to see him and pit for him when I could. So I know your area, future wife to be was met in Hawthorne.

Grandpaul, thanks and know that I watch your exploits on Britbike...good stuff.

Thanks Jerry for helping me with my registration difficulty....Mark
