This is advertized as a new thing, haven't seen it before, combined alternator/EI. Thoughts, experience?

made by electrex world. biggest concern is the low power output 50-60w. I have one but havent installed it yet. They are making a new model with higher output but not sure when its gonna be available

Yes, I noted that, even more interesting with higher output.

Very nice indeed.

I have seen this one in the flesh, I installed the unit on a BSA B40. The instructions are good, initial timing is easy to set up.

But

The output, as mentioned, is low, not enough to run the standard headlight and the rear running light (not a big issue on a B40 used in daylight), a higher output unit deserves a closer look.

However

The unit has a rather large bundle of wires, they will not fit through the standard grommet in the primary chaincase, so you'll have to open it up and find a larger rubber grommet, and you may be introducing your Norton to an oil leak if you aren't running a belt, which I gather, from an earlier post, that you will be.

Think its been at least a year since the higher output one was due out in a few weeks, hopefully they will finish it but it looks like vapourware to me.

Power is rated as 65W. Would that be enough if one uses LED bulbs I wonder......

Maybe and probably not. The factory fitted, pre-Mk3 alternators were rated at 110/120 watts, Mk3's 180 watts, the BMW's (/5) of the same time had 240 watts.

Leds use a lot less power......
