this is one of the new brake kits going to Australia for testing
New Front Brake Kit

Looks lovely, how about sending one to Vancouver BC for testing? We really need to know how it works in both hemi-spheres :D

Very, very, VERY kewl Don !!!! 8) 8) 8) Maybe I might want to get one of these after all. Nothing wrong with my current system, using a Nissin master cylinder and braided stainless line. But, your system looks really neat. (I'm guessing it is fantastic braking as well ) ... price ???

It will be a few weeks before final testing is done and the kits be available.
Caliper color options: Gold,Silver,Gloss Black or polished alloy, all discs have Gold centers.
When they are ready for sale I thought I would offer the kits to Access Forum members for a short time only
maybe 1 month for a discounted price of $650 + shipping, as pictured although I was planning to either
supply the tubular fender stay Zinc plated for owner painting or powdercoated silver/grey, or chrome for that matter.

as soon as I'm ready to ship I'll make a post here and anyone that is interested can contact me and purchase, but I estimate about 4 weeks or so.

Twin discs not for everybody but i know there is interest, I'll try and get some pics posted in a week or so of what will be offered, biggest problem will be that a clamp on Dunstall/Rickman type fiberglass fender will
have to be used, whether I can get that organised ? also rim will be 19", Flanged alloy in choice of WM2 or WM3.
Stainless spokes of course,

Sounds really good, not that I'm looking to be "racer X" or anything, but if I'm riding two up and going down hill for a long time add in some traffic and the heat build up can get a little high. Cj

When ya study the history of front brakes you will find its heat spreading to 2 rotors that matters most in racing not the extra power of two rotors, as just one good rotor is good enough for that. Extra mass of 2nd rotor actually hinders slowing the wheel inertia, before the tire can drag down inertia of rider and bike. A single rotor on the RH side helps counter the extra mass on the LH. May not matter to most but I can detect a slight toss down advantage to the LH vs RH though kind of scary to explore that in public places. On street bike the dual rotors are like the belt ventilation holes in primary cover, purely for looks though the holes take some mass off, so actually a bit better.

CJ, Same problem here, only I have had brake fade riding solo. The standard front brake on my MK3 hauls the bike down OK, but can only do it twice in rapid succession, after that there is no brake unitl it cools. I had this happen while chasing a fast Vincent on the Duffy Lake loop. On the third hauldown from 75 mph to about 10 mph,( downhil switchbacks) I had virtually no brakes. The Vincent's ancient double drum brakes were fine.
Looking at the two tiny pads that have to do all the work, it's not surprising they will overheat in a situation like that.

this mornings project, a small batch of caliper brake pipes for this project, off to the Zinc plater,I mean Cad plater for plating.

We diverge, but Vincent/HRD Black Shadows had different brakes drums to the Rapides - to improve the brake fade situation ???
Vincents made much of this improvement....

Yes, the Shadows had cooling fins cast into the drums whereas Rapides were smooth. I have Shadow type drums on both Rapides, it is an improvement. Also, there was a lightweight cast magnesium front brake plate developed for the Black Lightning. This was mainly done to save weight, but it also proved to be much stiffer than the steel plates on the Shadows and Rapides, so braking was greatly improved. These plates have twin air scoops added. I have a set of these on the Oz Rapide and they really work great, will lock the front wheel at speed.
Here they are in action:

Sounds like an interesting party trick ?!!
Keep your life insurance up to date...

You mention steel drums - and iron was used also.
Yes, Virginia, Vincents did suffer from brake fade.
But we diverge.

How long before these disk kits are ready to roll, madass ?
