Umm, he didn't have many good words to say eh.
What did he mean....." it's getting there ", how much do you have to spend to make it right.
Certainly the best looking bike there.
Why are those guys riding on the wrong side of the road? Seems a bit dangerous.
<joking>
I like the UK bike press so much more than the US... willing to actually be critical of a bike's flaws. US bike press seems way to scared to offend the manufacturer's... touting flaws as 'features' etc... I remember when Excelsior Henderson's test bike did the rounds, they all gushed over it. It wasn't until after the company folded that you'd read articles about what a heap it was...
This is last years news, just re-posting it but bike rags have tested the new Commando and basically say its a quaint modern show cruiser as it ain't very powerful nor very secure handling. Now if they were to rubber mount it in two parts with rod links and put a snail type blower on it .... and paint the barrel black....
How old is that video? I wonder what he meant by saying the Norton "wasn't working quite right"?
The two custom Triumphs actually looked pretty nice, but they probably cost more than the Norton!
Having owned a Bullet, all I can say about that one is "all show and no go". Would be great for riding across town and hanging out at Starbucks. Build quality was pretty awful on the one I owned though, so no guarantee you'd actually make it across town! Maybe they're better now.
Of course, with Norton getting that government-backed loan I'm sure all their problems will soon be behind them.
Debby, feeling a little extra cynical this morning
I'd be interested to see what they think it needs to "be there". There isn't much you can tell from the video about the handling of the bike, but it sure looks clean to me. I'd love to ride one. :mrgreen:
I do not think it is fair to compare a production motorcycle to a full blown kit with engine mods, frame, suspension, the works.
That being said, neither is it fair to call a production motorcycle a "Cafe Racer".
This particular comparison is bogus.
