Of to factory tomorrow to see bike as in the area on business.Want to know about various things that have been raised on this site , oil cap removal , oil cooler fouling front mudguard, hot and cold starting and idling.
The bike is being collected on Friday morning and transported to my house thanks to Welshrugbyplayers guy who transports his bikes so hope to get some miles on it before the N O C meeting on the 13th.
ITV4 9.0 tonight the Motorcycle Show seem they will be finishing the Anniversary 961.

Don’t worry or be concerned too much John ,if u have read every thread on this 961 site u could be forgiven in thinking that u need a breakdown truck following u on every ride, & eh YOU DONT, the bike is bit quirky here & there but that adds to the hand built character,re the oil cap, just be careful not to mark it with grips/ pliers when u undo it or the German guy on here makes a tool for it, fast Eddie got one , & again the oil cooler is just an adjustment if req,I’ve done lots of 200/300 mile days in all weathers, only problem is cleaning it after, catch u week Sunday , that will be a 350/375 mile day for moir

John, as 'Blighty' has said, I'm just shy of 900 mile on my new cafe and my ThruxR hasn't left the garage this year! If I have one gripe about my 961 it's the amount of ally polish I'm getting through :)

Yup, Ollie’s oil cap tool is the ultimate cure for tight oil caps!

Norton’s black chassis pack, and odd additional bit of blackness, is the ultimate cure for your polishing worries !!

No problem lads living where i do lots of my mates are involved in racing got a mate going to make a tool to slacken the oil cap just do not fancy 60 mph running in.Clem recons most of the problems are now solved been around bikes to not worry about reliability just looking forward to the 13th N O C day been a member since 1971. Thoughts on the mods to the channel 4 bike please.

Cheers Richard but think i will run it in.Been to the factory today to see my bike getting it tomorrow can't wait

Mx, your Thruxton seems to be suffering the same fate as my R nine T !

So is my guzzi but am determined to keep her, too much time invested and they hardly depreciate. Mind you, one of these new norton scramblers may temp me.

Was hanging with a guy that was riding a V7 chromed out model. His entire shift mechanism fell apart, poor guy. Lucky, some zip ties got it together enough for him to leave. Hope he made it home. Gorgeous little bike, too.

Ah well, I finally faced up to reality... and sold the R nine T.

Fortunately, the Missus doesn’t know how much I spent on the bloody thing :(:confused:
Hmm, how long had you had it? I've been thinking about parting with the Thrux but only had it since last Summer :(

1 year and 8 months. I would have kept it if it was a second bike. But, even with it gone, I’ve still got four.

The BMW was just too modern, meaning, superior to the others in every way... but the least fun to ride.

And cos I only ride my bikes for fun, it was always at the back of the queue and just didn’t get used.
