I need some options on a good "bum stop" style cafe racer seat for a client's Commando.

All the ones on e-bay are too narrow, and the one Frank has at Clubman looks funky with a big wheel well and cutout tail section for the rear loop.

Not sure if Airtech's "Bates" unit is wide enough, the detail photos show markings of 8" wide (too narrow) although the listing says 11" (might fit).

Anybody got any help on this?

this is the hotwing race3 seat on a 65 T120. it will also fit the 11-inch loop on an OIF.

pretty long-- looks okay on the triumph with a standard tank, but with an elongate cafe tank the seat hangs over the rear too far. i'm sure dave would lay one up shorter if you asked (and paid . . . )

the rear fender is from GFTP

If the quest for a 'bump stop' is to hold the pilot firmly in place, then a Corbin has to be as good as any.

Corbins are lovely to look at, but hard as bricks and too spendy for my pocketbook, and horrible on delivery timeframe.

Went with the Hotwings unit.

Corbins are a dime a dozen on ebay just because folks buy them and find that they are indeed as hard as bricks. They don't give them enough time break in. I have one on my 850 and it took about 2,000 miles before it was an all day seat. I have a Corbin on my 2001 Harley Road King and it too required a couple of thousand miles of break in. The bike and seat will turn 100,000 miles this spring so I feel that I and my 63 year old ass are qualified to give this recommendation. I had a Dunstall seat tail piece combo on a previous Norton and it was horrible. Looked great but at about hundred miles all of its' pent up nasty came roaring out.

On Fleabay, type in "Cafe Racer Seat" There are many pages of seats that a guy like you could easily adapt to a Norton and they aren't too pricey.

Not too pricey, but too narrow.

Hotwings seat should arrive any day now.
