After a gearbox rebuild along with having the rear brake drum circlip groove deepened to better secure the brake drum bearing, RGM high friction gold rear brake shoes as well replacing the the clutch plates with Barnetts, the rear wheel cover dish, rear chain and chainguard, Trixie roared to life on the 3rd kick.

My Baby Lives Again

I got in about 25 miles yesterday (the speedometer drive decided to take a crap when I was replacing the rear wheel dish). Looking to get in about 50 miles this afternoon.

Next on the list is a complete front brake upgrade using a new Andover Norton 13mm MC with mirror mount, Ferodo pads, braided SS line and caliper rebuild, replacing the Podtronics voltage regulator with a SHINDENGEN SH775AA, new speedometer drive and air filter element.

Probably feels good finishing that up and having it all work after some of the discussion regarding the gearbox rebuild.

I just tore my gearbox apart and put it back together. Took it apart because every o-ring in it was weeping. It did not have any of the funny bearings in it. All looked kind of new inside. Doing R&R on the bearings was a little intimidating (and totally unnecessary in my case), but it all went in. Pulled off the bearing work with a heat gun, and a bigger hammer. They do come out easier than they go in though. ;)

Yeah, Dan's is a twin to my 850. Hoping to meet him a this year's rally. I try to organize a group picture of all the metal flake blue Commandos at the rally.
My 750 is also MF Blue, but may not be after the rebirth.
I'm hoping to ride to the gathering rain or shine. 240 miles give or take. I'll pick up SR 30 in Tupper Lake and take it almost all of the way.
