I been hanging on to replace my rear tyre in order to get this magical 5 figure mileage out of it, it was a Dunlop Roadsmart 2,& the new one today is a Dunlop Roadsmart 3 ,so looking forward to getting at least that again with this one

I think you may have gone too far. Then again you might be one of those people who sees how far you can get on Empty (not throwing stones here!).

Superb mileage Richard . I will never get 10K out of my Bridge BT030.

I'm a bit worried that you're not enjoying the bike as much as you should;)

My rear is nearly due for replacement and my cush drive rubbers have just been replaced at 3500:rolleyes:

My oringinal Dunlop tyre was changed at 5,500 miles ,& Cush Drive things at 9,500 Miles , & the bike is currently on 15,650 Miles ATM , Road smart Dunlop’s are allegedly Sports tourer type tyres ( tires ) & last longer ,May be I’m slimmer than u Clive

Hey guys - talking to a biker mate at work about tyre wear(where) and he reckons that on his Humpty-Dumpty Sportster the twisty switch on the right handlebar grip has some extra positions between off and on. Can something like this be fitted to the Norton?

Might help reduce tyre wear and the annoying wailing sound from the pillion seat area.

My cush drive rubbers on Jan 2013 Sport were replaced at 5k miles - they changed supplier of these sometime later so they should now last much longer - original rear tyres seem to last 4k to 5k miles

They did change them a while ago and apparently they are looking at a different design but this means a modded sprocket. As an engineer I understand that a circular form is easier to manufacture but the radius of the drive pins is obviously going to try to load the rubber in a concentrated area and displace it to an area of lower loading rather than compress so it will obviously try to squeeze out wherever it can....

Yes you are right Clive , I can tell you that the new cush rubbers are better , BUT have NOT solved the problem. That concentrated load damage on those rubbers is still very evident . I just had to replace mine again. When you say modded sprocket maybe you mean , HUB , and CARRIER . Its not going to be cheap , it will mean a re-lace that's for sure. I hope that they can change the rubber hardness and durability one more time and see how that works out . Going to a paddle type would be much better. Great for the new bikes that get it , but we are stuck with the old design. And for people that actually drive their bikes a great deal like , Richard Pearce , Raphi , Richard-7 , myself ...etc.. Better have a set of cush drive rubbers every time you pull that wheel especially if its a Talon spoked hub. I can't speak for the carbon wheel which has a slightly different design. What I wonder is if the Talon Hub was meant for Super Motard bike 450cc and light. Not a heavy 500 lb , 70 HP -high torque Twin... ?

10K is nothing! I regularly used to get 14-15K on a Conti TK17 rear ( now no longer available)dispatch riding around London in all that daily stop – start traffic , so did a lot of other dispatch riders.

I got 7K out of my Dunlop and the cush drive rubbers were shot by then . Wen to the Bridgestone Battles. I liked the Dunlops much more.

I have a 2012 Harley with Michelin tires. The rear tire has gotten to where it slides in the corners at low speeds. 1400 miles on the bike. Going back with Dunlop.

Got my money's worth.
After a day of spirited riding with the SoCal/NorCal BSA Owners' Club on a road above Lake Isabella. The pavement was chip seal, brand new laid down maybe one day before, very sharp chips. Chewed up both sides.

Deep joy, your making your rears last at least twice as long as I am! I've recently fitted my second Dunlop RM2 to the rear having burnt through the last one in 5k miles. The original qualifier only lasted 3k ;)

That's the proper way to treat a tyre!!
