If I wanted to replace the original WLA (I've just fitted a mk3 HS spring and space is tight under the tank), would something like this be the way to go?

..or are there better items available?

Bonzo,
I have had very good results with ICM products and he stands by his products. You can also order one that has both oil pressure and charging warning.

Sorry - kind of thought you must have meant something like....
Modern equivalent of the WLA?

Why would anyone not want to fit a BSM that changes colour. I fitted one years ago, installed into the MK3 console and it has warned of problems that if I had been using the original antiquated system I would have been stranded. They tell you what the DC is doing as well as letting you know the stator is doing its job as well.

BSM - Blind Spot Monitor - why would you want one of them on a bike - even in multicolours?
Or..... ?

If its anything like the one I installed on my 71 Commando it's impossible to see in normal daylight, and quit working at all after a while.

I installed the solid state assimilator as per the original post. Plugs right into the original harness, looks correct, works fine. If you have a 3 phase alternator, the wiring gets a bit more complicated.
It arrived in the post today & I'll have a look at fitting at the weekend.

The instructions tell me to install it in the headlamp. Question. With the original assimilator removed from it's spot underneath the front of the tank, what happens to the redundant female spades?

Stephen, Stephen, Stephen... you've got to get with the groove. That must be an SSA you installed there.

Sparkbright Eclipse.
If you can't see this, it's not the voltage monitor that is at fault!

They are really good, however he seems to have gone out of business or something. I ordered one and so have others but they never show up. He does not respond to email or phone calls. PayPal refunded me.

That's too bad.
I bought half a dozen about ten years ago and installed 4. All still work perfectly.
