A friend has brought a Mk111 over for repairs and his console lights are out except for high beam blue.

How do you get these lights out for testing and repair please?

Who stocks these lights or parts in the USA?

Thanks

I see parts at Andover.
Appears like something on the side of the console light body.
Do you have to remove the console to remove these lights?

The lens are held in with spring type nuts. I have repaired them with tiny 12 v bulbs from an electronics shop. Last time I had the console apart I just replaced them with new items sourced from a third party vendor because I could not locate the the originals. Looks like they might be available now.

How do you disassemble the lights to replace a "pea" bulb?

Carefully bend the 'ears' of the retaining clips (which are often corroded so may break) until the bulb unit is released.

If they are original bulb units (as the ones in your photo I would say are probably not) then they were only meant to be replaced, however, it is possible to remove the base and replace the bulb.

I agree with L.A.B. They are probably not original. In case they are held in by the original spring steel speed nuts, be careful removing them if you want to reuse as they are easy to break and hard to find. Andover lists a part 37a they describe as lens clip but it looks nothing like the original and I don't know how they work. Anyone knowing a source for the original speed nuts or something better please let me know.

I could not find my original lens to compare the size. These are what I used as replacements. Since I didn’t have to change the hole size in the console there is a good chance this spring nuts might work on the old lens.

removed two lights today, removed console bolts, moved it up with wires attached, disconnected MKIII battery, pulled wires off two warning lights, used hook tool to reach in and pry the spring nut from the back.

One of the lights came apart, and it looks like it was intended to snap apart. pea bulb looks like the legs had tubing over them.

I would rather put in fresh clear warning lights

To make it easier, the warning light wiring is a sub-harness that can be unplugged. The rubber cover over the ignition switch can be removed and the bezel/nut unscrewed so the switch can be dropped out without having to disconnect the switch wires Edit: except perhaps for a double white wire?

I used these before and they worked fine. I went with new stuff because the originals were pretty beat up and I couldn’t locate new OEM stuff at the time.

So what does the 06-6393 "warning light control unit" do?
I cant seem to make sense of it.

Can this 06-6393 be the cause of non working console lights?

If you want to spend the money on the originals. Fair Spares America has had them in the past.

I suggest you fit super-bright LEDs (along with a resistor) and relieve yourself / your friend of any future trouble.
Can't vouch for compatibility with the assimilator, probably ok as the assimilator is a solid state component.

The base of the P&K warning light has been unavailable for years - I'd be surprised if Fair Spares stocks them.
