MKIII Battery removal

Hi all,

I've recently inherited dad's MKIII, and I am trying to replace the old battery. I can't figure out how to remove it and it seems too difficult for what I thought should be a simple job. Appears to be wedged in there under the frame, and held in at the bottom by the battery holder. Any thoughts? Am I missing something?

Unless it's an exceptionally tall battery, if the starter motor cables are moved out of the way from above the battery then it should (just) pull out.

I'm sure you know this, but just for grins I'll mention that you need to lift the leading edge of the battery slightly to slide it over the lip of the battery tray? I wonder if maybe there's some two-sided tape in the battery tray, to keep it from bouncing around...
