I am rebuilding a '73, 750 and want to use a Mk3 timing cover. I have seen AN part # 06-6161 which is a kit that supplies the cover and all the fittings/seals for adaption to 750/850/Mk3 engines, so I should be good to go. The question is about the oil pump, which I always replace, is there any advantage to using a Mk3 pump over other years?

It's the same pump except for the feed spigot (and rubber washer) which is included in the Mk3 timing cover kit.

Many thanks LAB. I had hoped that would be the case, and makes good sense. I asked because I just finished wrestling with '70 BSA 441 where I replaced the issue pump with a B50 pump where I had to carve the timing cover a bit, but get better pressure.
