I am trying to check the clearance on my rear isolastics and reading the book it sounds simple.
But in real life I can't get the gaiter to slide out of the way enough to see anything. I can see the adjuster wheel holes but nothing past that. Which direction is the best way to access the adjuster and thrust washer, gaiter slidden in or out? I'm afraid I'll tear the rubber if I do it wrong.
Thanks,
Jaydee

I peel back the wide end to gain access. They must be soft and supple not old, and use 850 type as earlier type are a hard plastic. But go ahead and rip the plastic cover right off anyways as it provides minimal protection. The rear doesn't get nearly the exposure to road dust and grits like the front iso's. Several owners just leave the rubbers off entirely ,easier adjustments ,inspections ,cleaning ,and those adjustable end caps if stainless ,look good. Silicone spray here on a regular basis ,it also washes away any dusts in the process.
