MK1 Amals on a parallel port head

I don't often work on late model Triumphs with parallel intake ports but now I have two with squirrely MK2 carbs. My solution a few years ago was to toss the MK2 carbs and install the much more common MK1 carbs from a year earlier. If I remember right I used a rubber manifold that bolted on to the carb flange and slid over the spigots on the head. It ran very well and did not require hangers to support the carb. The other method is to use the common aluminum spigot with a section of radiator tubing. This will absolutely require a hanger plate.

** Where to get the proper rubber manifolds?
** please do not give advice about MK2 carbs. They aren't worth the trouble.

Update...I talked to Jay Strait and he has a few solutions to the problem. If anyone is going to do this same conversion he's the one to talk to.

RGM has the rubber mk2 flange mounts for various sizes. I purchased a 30mm bore rubber flange for my velocette mk1 930 carb recently from them. Unfortunately it will not work on the velo as it pushes carb back away from inlet port more then 1 inch and carb then interferes with the petrol tank.

Can you post a link ?

Can be found searching "manifold rubber" on RGM site:

Wassell says: "Straight 30mm, 2'' hole centres. This manifold enables the fitting of a Mk2 concentric carburettor to machines using the Mk1 series as original equipment. Manufactured from diecast aluminium and available in straight or upswept designs as well as varying internal diameters."

Are you saying that this will work in the opposite direction as well on a MK2 equipped Triumph to switch to MK1?

Not making any claims on fitment to any bike...but was responding to the OP's request for where to get rubber flanged MK2 adaptors. The 30mm adaptor I bought fits my MK1 930 carb body just fine. To put this on the intended Velocette inlet port required the solid alloy flange mount into the head studs, just like it would for the Commando head. There were older threads on a member using these two flanges to rubber mount his MK1 carbs, elminating the heat soak and reducing vibration. That's what I'd hoped to achieve on the velo but the blasted tank over hangs top of the carb and has very minimal clearance aft of carb throttle slide tower....so will not work unless I modify the tank to the velo Thruxton type which has the whole corner section cut away to give clearance for the massive 1000 series GP carb body used on velo Thruxtons.
