Been working out of town a lot the last couple of months & finally getting back in the shop & getting some painting & getting my Norton bastard into a roller again....( no disrespect, just a lot of different parts, going into this build)... .. will be posting pictures soon...... Comnoz is balancing my crank to go vertical with a 850 top end..... I'm sorting thru some parts that I will to be using, the question that I have is, the timing cover I'm using is off a 75 MK III...It has a bump in the cover that fits over the oil pump that I was told is for oil anti slumping... most of you have a lot more knowledge on this than me..... so any input would be helpful.....

life is not how you weather the storm...but rather how you dance in the rain..... Tripower

I have one on my 72. It helps, but not perfect. Maybe an even better benefit is the ability to check the cam chain.

True enough ... the anti wet-sumping valve's shuttle/piston inside the timing cover tends to get stuck "open", which defeats the anti wet-sumping feature.

I discovered this on my first MKIII, which I thought was missing its piston ... until close examination revealed it stuck at the far end of its bore. Several other MKIII timing covers I've examined have had the same problem.

Hey some of them the bore was forgotten and omitted so sloppy at the Works. Narrower timing gears , Bigger oil pump seal. Thicker cover gasket. Let the headaches continue. :|
