Lubed the grip area today , but not the throttle cable(s) . CAA card ready . Leaving on a big trip tomorrow . Tobermory , Cape Croker .

Sometimes the carb can wear unevenly and the inner body eventually drags in the tunnel of the carb making the return sticky. I've used dykem blue to find the high spots by painting the inner tunnel and engaging the inner body to leave witness marks to show where they were sticking. Then I carefully blended the tiny high spot areas with fine sandpaper. With something like this it's better to do less and test for fit than over do the sanding and ruin your carb... I've done it to my own a few years ago when one was sticky and they are still running fine... I would bet very few have done it, but it worked for me.

Will try .
That was it . My pushing on the new glued up twistgrip rubber pushed the whole assembly inwards . Gave it a push to the right and all went good again . Throttle snaps back as it should . Thanks .
B.T.W. this snap back is a requirement for any motorcycle vehicle safety inspection certificate !
Off for 10 days of camping / hiking The Bruce .

First time i had my 850 out in the rain. Standing a few hours, the next day the throttle was stiff, slow to return. A few good squirts of cable lube down the sleeve freed it right up...so either a bit of hydro locking or some corrosion.
