Disassembled Right side Switch gear assembly to find kill switch contacts black , so removed it and soldered together W. and W. Y. wires. Questions : 06-6008 is a brass leaf spring. Does it fit back into twistgrip area indented side up as illustrated in group 24 parts manual ? Or is it curve side up as I found it as placed on the disasembly. ? Also there is an adjuster tension screw with this. The spring has a hole in the center , is this for the screw to find home ? No part no. or details about it in manual , is it to fit into the hole or to provide adjustable pressure on the leaf spring. ? One more question : The very tiny screws that hold the switches in place. What size are they I lost one as it fell out never to be seen again . Thanks.

The tension spring and screw should be one unit. The top of the screw is staked into the tension spring and gets installed from the inside of the control housing. It is staked in but can rotated so it can be screwed into the control housing.
If you have time and since the screw is already out you can use a knurled screw ( I believe 2BA is the correct size but a 10-32 works) and a small coil spring and make a usable throttle stop. I reduced a small portion of the screw so it will fit in the hole in the spring and then staked it in place.

The coil spring is not shown in this picture but goes between the housing and the screw head.
The screws that hold everything together are metric. There are two different sizes and I don’t remember what they are. 4mm and 5mm come to mind, but I can’t be sure.

The 'spring' and threaded section is 'one piece' (9), however, although the threaded section is staked, it is free to rotate and has a screwdriver slot for adjustment. Nut, '10' is the locknut.

The small internal screws I believe are UNC but I will have to check the size.

Found it, the Mk3 RH cluster internal pozi pan head screws I believe are #4-40 UNC x 5/16" long.

Used metric on mine and worked fine. Just wasn’t sure what sizes. Pretty sure I used this for reference.

No argument. As I believe Torontonian is asking about the small internal screws not the cluster clamping screws which I agree are M4 & M5.
(Photo is of the similar Triumph cluster)

Yes, you are correct Les, OP is talking about those screws. My blunder. Not sure about those.

Another alternative. Dime City Cycles. I also found shiny levers with black perches at
Mikes XS.

Thanks. What I have seems a bit of a bodge by the P.O. I have a screw that is not correct or original. The leaf spring as I see it should face hollow or shallow side up and big curved down. Correct ? P.O. installed it backwards ? The screw I have is not pegged into the hole but fits into it. It is also the correct thread for the casting as there is no evidence of any stripping damage , it works. Will look in my box of Brit nuts for the small locking nut. Can someone define the word "staked " please . the idea being say to peen it into place yet allow screwdriver rotation to reduce or increase leaf spring pressure on the twistgrip ?

Yes.

Yes, "peened" loosely would perhaps be a more accurate description.

When you finally get it sorted you'll probably wonder why you bothered. ;)

Thanks again , I'll attempt to make this roll over peen end to the slot headed screwI have .
More fascinating questions to follow.

I drilled a small shallow hole on the end and hit it with a sharp chisel to form an “x” on the knurled screw piece I made. The stock part is available at some parts suppliers. I believe I got one from Klempf’s.

I like this idea. Am running a Grimeca base plate (aluminum) so that would have to fit the Right hand cluster you show.
To totally go modern, I used a 13mm Japanese style master cylinder from Mikes XS and was able to get a clutch lever and perch from them too. I wanted shiny levers so I had to buy them separately, but also from Mikes XS.

Great ideas and options. By the way , since I was in there to remove the kill switch ,( as suggested by other posts in the archive ) , the contacts I found were black , not shiny ) I decided to open up the Right hand lighting switch to take a look-see. The bronze slider and contacts were black , so took my smallest needle file to them , put a dab of Oxy-guard in place along the metal sliding surfaces. Reassembled. So if both those switches had black contacts I'm realizing it is also prudent to explore the left hand switch gear contacts as well. If it ain't one thing it's another. Who said that ?

Try Klempf’s that’s where I got mine

If not PM me and I’ll look in my junk bin to see what I have laying around.
