Well, I was hoping to get my MK3 in the running for most improved for 2012. This is a bike I bought 11/11/11 and have been working on when time would allow. I started the thread on this forum a few days after it arrived at my shop with some shots of a bike that was left for dead. As it sits, the bike now runs and is almost complete--- I am short a seat (cant decide, Corbin or stock?) and a pair of silencers. I'm waiting for Commando Specialties to stock up again. Brakes are built, but not on the bike. All electrics function as they should. Maybe you'll remember this one:

Left For Dead is perfect so throw a towel on her for a seat ,screw the silencers and drive her around the block at least !
 
Thanks for the kind words. It's been quite a process, as most of you know. It amazes me the great lengths we will go to in keeping these hunks of metal looking and running sweetly. For me, and I can speak for a few of us here, it's therapy. It's our time to escape our day-to-day responsibilities as business owners, employees, parents, etc. and just let it all go for those precious few moments we get during the week to construct and translate our vision into functioning art. I am thankful to have the opportunity to do such a seemingly extravagant thing.

To answer a question, though, the stainless rocker feed lines came from Carl Hokanson, from MA. They were cheap and the shipping was free. (racingnorton is his user ID on ebay) I've purchased many parts with Carl over the years. He's always given outstanding service and incredible pricing.

The carbs came from Jim Schmidt. Several threads on this forum convinced me to buy a set. Originally my bike came to me with a single Mikuni with the slide stuck in the bore, and a cracked intake manifold with JB weld poorly holding it all together.

I'll try to post a couple more shots of the bike in its more complete form---with less haze.
 
Dang another one to lust after, hide your keys I's been know to steal.
If ya do ride it on open headers be aware the carbs may not get much draw signal down low so hard to just ease off and putt putt around w/o bogging and fouling, so pretend its a dragster and keep blipping and rpms up for cam health. You don't want to be lugging a new engine at all as sets stage from now on. Open pipes in a lower CR engine sound like pooppoop any way but giver the gun some and the roar and over run will please ya no end as all dogs around will attest and maybe a car alarm too.

The poor thing. didnt he do well . It wont know what hit it . :) Hope you took the bits of the magnet before buttoning it up . :P

Seems quality control was a conspiracy to see there were plenty of low milage commandos available for Centuries to come . :D

How many sub 10.000 mile honda CB 750s are still around . Seems like Norton thought of everything . :wink: Great forsight & planning .
