Pardon my ignorance once again. I am looking to purchase fork springs made by Progressive. The springs as well as the shocks they offer describe the fitment for the Mark 2 model, years '74 through '78. They do not include the Mark3 - I asked them. I have never seen references to the Mark2 after 1974. Am I wrong to think the Mark3 replaced the Mark2 in 1975?

Thanks in advance for your indulgence!

The 74 was the MKIIa and in 75 began the MKIII.

So when the sales rep is telling me they've only been tested for the MarkII 1974-78, his perception is wrong. In fact, the website states the same erroneous information.

Regardless of what Progressive has for listed for MK2 model year, the MK2-3 forks are the same, but if you are trying to fine tune the fork according to bike weight + rider weight, the MK3 weighs a bit more than a MK2 so you may want to take that into consideration. I'm sure you can find out exact weight of the MK2 somewhere but I can say for sure my MK3 weighs 475lb with almost a full tank of gas as weighed on a track scale. Coincidently the same as my '97 Speed Triple.

Wow - now that surprises me! I don't know the exact weight of my Daytona, but I would have figured it was heavier than the Mark III. Maybe not.

Yeh, it surprised me too, I saw that you also had the Daytona too and that's why I threw that little tidbit out there. The T509 carries 4.8 gal of gas and it carries up high, that's one of the reasons I think it feels heavier and so a bit more awkward to push around. I know your Daytona 955i is the next generation up from my Triple but I'm guessing the weight is similar.

Yes, it is a little awkward. Especially now that I'm close to 60. Ain't nearly as strong as I used to be.

I'm feeling your pain at 2/3rds of the sign of the devil's number myself. Will it ever get warm around these parts?

That's an even sorer topic! I have a new regulator/rectifier (as recommended on TriumphRat) and alternate wiring to the battery all ready to be installed on my Daytona. But I even get my shed door open, let alone have enough warmth to do the job without major discomfort. These low temperatures are really making me grumpy - and that normally requires a whole lot of adversity.

How far up north are you?
