I try to compare the workshop manual and what is actually on my bike to determine whether the PO or owners have removed or replaced parts. The manual shows 4 bolts and washers going down into the threaded holes in the bracket. Mine has 4 bolts threaded upward into the holes with washers and nuts on top. functionally probably doesn't matter either way. I've heard the assembly line was pretty "whatever" in the last year. Also what is the purpose of the triangular shaped bends with a hole in on the coil clips?

Hi brokeneagle.
Standard practice is that bolt/setscrew heads face upward or forward on vehicle/aircraft with nuts under or behind respectively. The rationale is that should the nuts come off the bolt will stay in position and not just fall out.

That seems to be normal for the Mk.3, and not as it's drawn in the parts book. My Mk.3's bracket was fixed the same way. Perhaps not all Mk.3 brackets were assembled like that?

They're the condenser mounting brackets on early Commandos.
Although the condensers were eventually relocated on the later models, the clips kept the old mountings.
