Making progress on my clutch dilemma...slowly getting there. My wife just got tested for COVID and we are awaiting the results so things have slowed down.
I wanted to thank DynoDave for his help on this...I think I will be riding soon if we pass the COVID test.
Dave has always been there for me and others giving correct procedures and advice along the way. He was there for a complete engine rebuild on the phone for hours, gearbox repair in a tent at Daytona, starter and starter gear train repair, Rita setup and testing...I could go on and on...
How many tech sessions has he given at INOA rallies as well as Norton repair before and after the tech sessions ? I haven’t been to as many rallies as I would like but I watch this man work hours on people’s bikes and sometimes get a thank you. His website has numerous charts ,graphs and procedures. How many of his articles are on the INOA ?
When I was rebuilding my engine with his help...he asked me a question ...”Do you want to be a Parts changer or a mechanic”. Was that abrupt or rude... NO... it was to get me to understand what I was doing and that throwing new parts is sometimes not the fix...understanding how something works will lead to being a mechanic...not a parts changer. I am not there yet...work in progress.
I was reminded of this as I was measuring clutch stack height, dimensions of the clutch basket, the diaphragm and circlip... I have a pile of spare clutch part which I measured and found an amazing amount of differences in these parts (some are new). So just throwing new parts in would not give the intended results. Number, measurements and results coming soon! I just wanted to give credit where it was due in case the COVID gets us
We are lucky to have people like Dave in our community ...Thank you Dave for your patience, knowledge, and skill.
