May be a silly question but since I'm reconstructing the front end-
What are the two small holes in top of the lower yoke for?

One (or both holes) could be for a steering damper (for either left or right hand side mounting):

I'm not sure what the other hole is-unless it's an 850 MkIII lower yoke in which case it would be for the brake line fitting?

Not so silly ,have wondered myself why they are there. Mk 111 is a brake line support yes.

Thanks people.
Sounds like they don't have a specific purpose for a stock (no damper) bike with drum brakes. I'll use one to zip tie the brake cable and the other for the rocket launcher

I wouldn't ride a bike without a steering damper, I've seen my handle bars disappear into a blur during a tank slapper. Always interesting when it appears to have settled down and you grab the bars again.

Perhaps you should try a ride on a stock Commando then.
Since you don't appear to have done so.....

Not on a track for sure! Haven't had the pleasure of playing at full throttle yet. Still breaking in the motor. You can bet I'll be installing a damper if the bike tends to wobble.
