Blown engine after just 230,000 miles forced him to replace his bike with another early Hinckley Bonnie.
 
loving mine, 2006 Scrambler. Done 83000 on it now and its still going strong. Only gripe is the finishes havent lasted well after winter riding. And it has a really rubbish headlight.

Be careful with the winter riding salt on the roads
My mate has an early hinkley bonnie and the engine number has fallen off
It's still attached to a shard of powder coat ,he keeps it in an envelope incase he sells the bike
A work mate of mine has a similar model and the landings around the seal on the front brake caliper have corroded away
 
I had the same caliper problem, got a decent used one from an eBay seller.

My other (corrosion based) gripe is that the nuts / studs on the exhaust pipe collars have rusted away, so maybe worth taking a look at those before they become a problem. Managed to fix one side, new (original) studs and stainless nuts, but getting to the other side will be a real bugger of a job, so leaving it until it really needs dealing with. I got a complete (new) exhaust system, again from eBay - £80, ready to go on the bike at some point, so the old header pipes could be cut off if necessary.

Coated engines cases are a daft idea, prior to the Scrambler I had a T309 Trident. The black coating came off the engine cases in large chunks.

The other bolt to watch is the front wheel spindle clamping bolt
That was corroded solid on my mates bike
