Can some kind soul please take a picture showing the exact location of the mk3 solenoid. I am in the process of fitting an Alton starter and don't particularly like the fitting they supply to go on top of the battery. Seems there could be potential for its to move and make contact with the terminals.
In any case I am more concerned because I believe the side panel will push up against one of the terminals.
Thanks in anticipation!

Thanks very much, that makes sense. Might not be able to it as I have taken out the black box and fitted the earlier battery tray. Oh well, will look in the morning. Thanks again.

There is a smaller 150A solenoid used on Yamaha's and also as an upgrade to Aprilia RSV's that would fit on the other side of the bulkhead.

There are any number of smaller, butter solenoids available at most auto parts corner stores, inexpensive and robust.

Just to update, thanks for all advice. I have bolted the solenoid to the inside rear of the battery carrier and put heavy duty rubber in between it and the battery. All cables reach, seems a tidy solution, will pop course keep an eye out for battery rub but cannot see that happening. leaves space above the battery for the PCV from Holland Norton Works! Hopefully all very tidy.
