Hi Guys,
I recently had the chance to paint up an EMGO repro steel Roadster tank and some side covers for Chris Eng in Colorado. Chris bought the tank through Matt at CNW and Matt shipped it to me. After some bad experiences with both the Indian and Pakastani made repros, I was chomping at the bit to see this new kid in town. Chris told me Matt was very pleased when he saw the raw tank. Knowing Matt's exceptional reputation, that comment held a lot of weight for me. So as soon as it arrived, I looked it over and would agree with his assessment wholeheartedly, as well as others who have liked what they've seen thus far. Body lines and neck stamping are crisp and definitive as orig. Overall, I feel it's very faithful reproduction and a worthy alternative to rusted or beat originals or fiberglass. Even the underside was well done. Insides are baffled like original as well. They are not perfect mind you, but for that matter, neither were the originals. I ended up using a skim coat of filler on the top section and a repairing a few small dings. The only other issue was the leading edge around the front of the tunnel needed a bit of filing.
Below I have some pics of the tank both before and after painting. I showed them to Matt upon completion as he was anxious to see the final product. He seemed to feel it will be a good alternative and I could not agree more.
Please check out the pics and let me know your thoughts.
