Lectron Carbs

Back in '80s I had a friend who ran Lectrons on his Commando 750 race bike quite successfully. Unfortunately, I don't know any details about his setup of them, but he really liked them.

I had a single 40mm on mine back in the 80's. It worked great. Jetting is easy and almost infinite with the flat tapered needle.
I sold it for a good price after I stopped riding my bike.

I've a pair on 32mm Lectrons which are a 3rd generation direct evolution of the Lake Injector, just with a fuel bowl and idle circuit beside the kick ass thin needle air way.

Steve/Hobot, what have you got them mounted on a bike and if so can you supply pics of fit up?
Are they made in the USA or manufactured offshore and assembled in the States?

Just an FYI, the Lectrons seem to be real popular with the motorcycle drag racing crowd, particularly the Suzuki guys.

Also a whole lot of the Harley XR750 flat track engines seem to use the Lectrons.

Both of these are often the "money is no object" crowd. But it does seem when money is no object, lots of folks use the Lectrons.

As long as you get the sticker , and fit that , itll look cool . :) The carbs are possibly more expensive . Something on a Race XS 850 triple @ 900 with 36 ones on yamahahaa ha triple forum .For tech. referance .
Mentions NO butterflys .

Most horrible CV wotsits had impediment to flow , but ran smooth . Like a S.U. or Stromberg .constant velocity carburator . Butterfly & vacume slide . Mk II Amal smooth bores & G.P.s for guide / comparison . :D

Large clear hole through the works for the air to get in the engine fast . If going fast . Fancy C.V. things for economy and smoothness . opposite poles . Old slide carbs the riders got to do the sympathetyic control bit .
Wacking them full open causes all sorts of things , includeing strife for the rings . So if youre reving it a bit and feeding in the fropple , itll wind out nicely . Ton in third and suchlike . Have to join the ton Up Club , though . :D

lambrettaestte are keen on em too . :(

Wow, I am finally able to post again after getting a new computer & Email address'! I still cant get to my PM's.

Lectron carbs are about $300 each, They can be ordered all set up for your application by "Fast by Gast" in New York.

I have been running one on my Drouin for a few years. I have had to replace the plastic float bowl twice in that time and now use the billiet float bowl ring.
I think the ethanol in the gas has caused it to discolor.
Very easy to tune once the right needle configuration is installed. Its tuned by raising or lowering the needle like an amal carb but with out disassembling the carb.

I have always thought that a 40 mm single lectron would be great on a Norton

What difference does it make where they are made?

Hi swoosh, classic road racing here in New Zealand has strict rules (depending on the class you are in) on carburetors, place of manufacture etc, so reason for my inquiry
also anyone have recent feed back on a twin carb set up for these carbs on an 850?
Regards mike

Kevin Gilham at Lectron Fuel systems assures me these carbs are manufactured and assembled in the good ole' US of A!!!
Looking at getting 2 x 34mm's for Bike #2
Regards Mike
