I had a plan ,build me a hopped up 750 motor . Not to dissimilar to Nigel's Maney job ,looking forward to the process but for a while now I have been having strange feelings. Feelings too hard to resist I bought a yellow T309 a couple or three months ago but my excursion to Trifest and mixing with people from the dark side has turned my head. So tomorrow I am blowing a big chunk of my hopper cash on a Bonnie and so as Billy Connelly would say " spent all my money and pawned my jacket ". Better than a hopped up 750? I think so.

Got an M.O.T for the Triumph today ,insured it yesterday just need the dating certificate for the DVLA and we should be good to go. Got a clymer manual and a resto book but ordered an owners and workshop manual. Also picked up a couple of tail lights for the Norton at Jimmy Mortons , turns out he won the classic Manx clubman trials class on Roy's pre 65 tiger cub good win for the boys from the Shire.

You cant be a million miles away from me Auldblue. I used to like going to Jimmys for an MOT always a good laugh with Jimmy. He is sadly missed.

Cheers for that Matt, but the triumph tyres are not good enough for the International Sheep Dog Trials, paws for thought.

I did not know auld Jimmy , but from what I've heard that sounds about right. Mrs Morton is still alive , her family have banned her from smoking but when I was in on Saturday I slipped her a ciggy on the QT.

I am from the west of the shire near Ayr. Honest men and Awe that.

My bike failed on Saturday , PO's wiring was the problem knew it was shot but decided to see what else was on its way out .

The tank is also well pumped it must have been full of rust . He's just poured epoxy in and then just sanded it a bit and applied the paint, the fuel taps are off as well..

Got this wee puppy today a lick of paint and she will be fine.

Re: Last train to Glasgow Central..........Last Traaaain....

Does the placement of the fuel taps on the tank indicate it is for use with a single carb cylinder head?

I would think not, but I don't know for sure. Les will probably have the answer. I just think the bottom of the tank has been eaten away with rust and he has filled the tank bottom with epoxy and coated the outside with cataloy(bondo) and then painted it but the paint has not had a Google enough key and is peeling off.

It's a bit of a bitch to kickstart.

I don't, but something isn't right. The rear end of the tank doesn't seem to go back far enough, as the taps should sit just behind and to the inside of the carb tops (see ebay link pics) so it may not be the correct tank for that model.

Your wiring looks problematic.

The fuse was burning the toast. The t/s carb is , I think out of shape ,over tightened maybe and it's a pretty novel way of blanking off the choke cable hole, both carb lids are the same.

The only thing I did today was sent a rev counter down to Arthur at Gaggs for a full malky job. By the way I did not wire this motorcycle or I would not have put the reg -/rec on the mudguard.

Looking Good . I suppose they even do repos of the joMoCo sticker these days ?? otherwise ya gota scan it , pro prosperity , Er Prosthingo .

68 ?? . Fundamental is it goes . Like Stink . Originality is for glass cabinets . They all whine about monoblocks , but you could tell the Concentics
by the missfire on transition . :D Glass Pack Straight Thru mufflers have been known to improve matters . The Long Ones , preferably . :D :D

Cheers Matt

Thanks for that. You are correct the bike with the problems is a 70 . The red bike is a 68 but I have not had the dating certificate back but it says 68 on the Virginia title.

Again I agree originality is for display one look at my commandos and you will know what I mean.

A couple of photos of the inside of the tank , not the best but you can see the river of epoxy in the base along the seams. It weighs about twice as heavy as it should be.

Re: Last train to Glasgow Central..........Last Traaaain....

Did a hour or so on the 120 tonight to try and get it sorted for an MOT retest. Pulled the gbox cover to see the kickstart Spring , turns out it's the pin that holds the spring is bent don't know if that's a common thing or not.
Swopped the bars over and was going to fit the new horn switch but there was no self tappers , took some photos but for some reason they wouldn't upload .
