Well, my project is almost complete. All i have left to do is wait for the silencers, and fix an electrical issue with the headlight and she is all done. The shop that rebuilt the motor is going to do the final shake down on it as they like to be the ones to fire up their work. Should be all done the first week of May!!! Not quite 1 year to fully restore the bike. Guess I can enter it in the 2012 most improved. It's got quite an extensive list of new parts, but i tried to keep it mostly origional. A big thanks to Brent who painted the tank and side covers. What do you all think??

Darrell

Looks as good as any the better re-stores, which don't include mine. Hope she's tight and long lasting road joys.

a very nice looking bike. I like the placement of the horn; is that a CNW coil and horn set up?

Is That an Oil Puddle to the right , on the Garage Floor . :P

( just kidding )

Take it easy , good things to look fowrd to . As they say . Dont Rush .

Nice bike. Please re-route plug wires. They are in danger of burning on the pipes. You could tuck them up under the tank and have them approach the plug from the rear to take up the extra length.

What did you do with that piece of junk you hauled home on the trailer?

NO it is not. It is a Darrel Norton Works set up. I built an aluminum bracket that fit to the outside of the coil bracket to mount the bouyer single coil ignition. As for the horn, I made a bracket and used one of the bouyer nuts to hold it in place. Here is a picture of my bracket .

It's beautiful. Nicely done. Wanna trade and do it all over again?

Ha ha, not a chance on the trade. For you who didn't know the back story on this norton. The bike was bought new by my dad's best friend in 74, then my dad bought it in 76. He owned it until 85 when he sold it to my uncle on my mom's side. he owned it for 2 weeks before he lost control in a high speed corner and it pitched him off. He fixed the bike up and rode it for a few more years, followed by a few attempts to rebuild the engine, with no luck. He has had it stored for 7-8 years on his acreage. When he was sick last year and knew he was going to die, he asked me if I wanted it, (silly question) and gave it to me with the condition that i fixed it up and kept it.

As for your bike that needs fixing, I could fix it for a fee!!! I really enjoy working on these machines, and I've got a new project in the works. Planning on a custom cafe racer.

Another project? Gasp! It does get to be a bit addictive doesn't it?

I've really enjoyed restoring this bike so much, I have been inspired to keep going. No sense in losing this passion. I am looking at building a cafe racer style bike with a ducati single sided swingarm. Looking at possibly using a buell motor, then having a custom frame built to suit it. I like the looks of the new norton's and want to kinda style it like that. It's still in the concept phase, but I've been slowly collecting parts, and there is a guy in Calgary that is doing some sweet work. Trillion Industries is the shop. I'm going to contact him and see what it will cost once I have decided on a power plant to use. It's not going to replace my 850, just a project too keep my pocket book empty and me somewhat out of trouble. Well, maybe not!!!
