Is it a Commando?

During the recent ESPN and CBS coverage of the US Open tennis, I've seen an insurance commercial a couple of times where an elderly gentleman climbs on a motorcycle and rides away. You only see the upper section of the bike (headlamp, bars, fuel tank and seat). It looks a lot like a Commando. I don't remember seeing him kick start the beast and you never see below the bottom of the fuel tank.

Does anyone know if it is a Commando?

Frank,
Not to change the subject or anything like that, but I sent you an email. Do you know anything about the front mudguards on the early 69/70 S, R and Fastbacks? You can PM me if you like to keep the thread clean.

Sorry Dave. The mudguards were just "there". The prototypes were pretty crude, with fuel tanks that looked nothing like the production version, no center or side stand (we had to find a wall or a post to lean them against).

My gut feel is that they had the basic Atlas mudguards,(or maybe the P11 type?) but I can't be sure if they were painted or Chromed.

BTW, we were VA residents for a while back in the early 70's. After I git laid off from Boeing, I ended up working for a couple of contractors at NASA Langley. We lived in Hampton.

That's OK, I was just wondering if anyone knew about the difference between the S, R, original commando, and the later Fastback front mudguards. It's a subject that seems unknown.

Thanks,
Dave

Yeah, I saw that commercial too. I wasn't positive but it looked like a Honda done up in Cafe Racer style.
