I seem to have all the parts from Andover - hinged seat, hinge, spacer, bolts, washers, nuts, cover plate, cable, etc.

I need help putting all the correct pieces, in the correct order, on the left hand upper shock bolt...maybe both upper shock bolts.

The parts book shows the lipped washers (28) as a quantity of 4 as if being used on both upper shock bolts.............a pair of lipped washers and a spacer is added to the left shock bolt?
and these pieces clear the seat on the left side?
or they are not used?
Thanks

My Mk3 doesn't have the lipped washers on the LH bolt and would serve no purpose if they were.

The diagram you supplied seems to be for the frame prior to the Mark III
with the hinged seat.

The diagram shows the arrangement for the right (seat lock) side. The left (hinge side) has spacers, a nut, and washers to position the seat knob, so that allows the seat to hinge up without interfering with the knob. Almost every MK3 i have seen has the marks on the seat trim that shows where the seat trim has rested on the knob.
Seat fitting... now there hangs a tale. Every pattern seat i have seen/dealt with doesn't fit. Needing all brackets cutting off, remaking/ welding in position. I hope your AN seat is better.

So i have the new Andover Norton Mk3 Interstate hinged seat installed .
There is no clearance for the usual knurled knob to be installed.
I have used a slightly wider spacer for the upper shock mount bolt.

Anyone have this system in original to show, with a picture, how it works please.

Firstly, I'd say the wider spacer is in the wrong place and the normal spacer goes between the hexagon and the knob (mine has two washers instead of the spacer)?

There should be a seat check wire 06.5623 that prevents the seat opening too far?
https://andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-details/16586/seat-check-wire

When open to the limit of the check wire the 06.6254 rubber hinge cover rests against the seat knob.

Opening the seat wouldn't normally involve loosening the seat knob.

Lets see the install of the seat cable please.
i have installed the AN seat cable and if shortened, the seat will not stay up on center stand .
maybe it (the seat cable) is for use with side stand?

where is OEM frame attachment (picture or drawing)?
where is OEM seat attach (picture or drawing)?
cable length eye to eye center ?

Mine suffers from the same problem (Roadster) although the hinge fittings are the same.
It needs to be on the side stand for the seat to stay open but it's already at the limit of opening, any more and the knob would begin to dig into the rubber cover.

The only suitable attachment point as far as I'm aware is the small hole in the inner shock plate. The self-locking nut isn't fully tightened so the end fitting can swivel as necessary when the seat closes.

Approximately 11 1/2".

Now I remember why I disliked the hinged seat on my Mark 3.
Changed it out to a Mark 2 seat....

But then again, that's not original...

Carry on....
