I'm looking for a cafe style seat for my interstate. I've seen one at a website called motorcycleseatsdirect. Anyone had any dealings with them? Interested in their quality, reliability. The seats look better styled than most on offer.

Looked high and low on that site and there is no sign of a physical address or a legal business name even in the terms and conditions. So who are you buying off and where do they come from ?

The best one I've seen was the Corbin Gunfighter that Klaus modified for his Interstate many years ago. Rather than chopping off the nose like some others do, he moved the mounts forward and relieved the base to clear the fender. It looked way better than any other set up I've seen. Klaus is a tall guy, so moving the riding position further back wasn't a real issue.

Well its most certainly not the easiest option, cos you have to modify a roadster seat. And its not the cheapest option, cos the roadster seat is costly to begin with, then you have to modify it.

But that said, the Corbin on an Interstate is surely 'the Daddy'...

Fast Eddie - that seat does look excellent. What exactly is involved in the modifications? Does it involve removing and reinstalling the cover?

And yes there are no business details on that website but that's the nature of the web at times. I've bought many items that come from somewhere in China but you only find that out when unwrapping the package. Every package arrived as described and I've never been ripped off. Just wondered if anyone had taken the plunge and tried this site. Turns out interstate steel tanks from India are ok ( going by a recent thread) so who knows about this one.

What's involved?

Dismantling the seat, shortening the base to suit the intended tank (inadvisable to 'assume' as the interstate tanks vary it seems), modify the padding, modify the cover, re-assemble.

I can't say how easy or difficult it is because it seemed rather too daunting for me to attempt. Matt at cNw did the hard work for me, all to his usual high standards. I simply shipped my tank to him, and received my tank and new seat back. Quite a straightforward process from my side!

Fast Eddie, not to change the subject but can you tell me what brand of rearsets you have? The RH mount looks very nice. Not quite like either Clubman or Dunstall.

Thanks,
Aaron

They are one of the few things I have purchased from Norvil. They are quite OK, but the relationship with the kickstart is a bit of a PITA. I actually intend to use NYC rearsets in future in combination with a T160 style folding kickstart from RGM.

The Z plates are standard ones with the rear portion hacked off.
