not sure if anyone else has encountered this, but I finally discovered the source of the persistent oil sweat/drip along the underside of the intake manifold on my TR7 (after swapping gaskets, lapping surfaces etc...) - the studs protruding from the head are not blind. Oil seems to wick up the stud threads and make its way to the underside of the manifold. Anyway, some thread sealant on the stud portion going into the head solved the problem
