Not Norton related but I think this could apply to any bike, this one is a Yamaha SR500 that I restored.
It was a heap of shit when I got it , never ran and of course nothing worked, the butchers had been at it.
it has ALL brand new electrics, maybe its just the bulbs, I replaced a few things to no avail, I never got them working but I noticed at very high revs they would start to flash, any ideas?

If its one of those mechanical blinker units (not an electronic one) like the Norton uses then it will ONLY work if the bulbs are 23 w each.
(Or was that 21 w each ?).
Any other wattage and you need substantially more or less voltage for them to operate successfully.

But we can't see from here what you are using, or if you have a voltage leakage or poor earth to throw a spanner into the works,
so to speak. Have fun !

well yesterday arvo I checked to see if they had 21w bulbs fitted and they do, I noticed that the bulb holders were not holding the bulbs so well, anyway I went for a ride last night and on the way back the indicators worked normally, first time ever, so maybe there is a problem with the bulb holders, I know the battery is not so good, I'll install a new one and report back, but yes it looks like it could be a bad connection there somewhere.

I've fixed my winkers over intervals by a swift kick on them, til I got the bub holders earth path re-established along the chrome plated plastic parts &or attacking stem tubes flaky earth return path. So I think maybe the hi rpm vibes helped make better contact temporary. Best solution is hand singles w/o winkers in the way.

well I did another 30 klms today and they are still working, I think when I checked the bulbs to see what wattage they were I fixed the earth problem, no doubt temporarily. most people in my city dont use them anyway andthose that do
they turn them on and dont turn them off and drive around all day with them on, makes riding real interesting in the traffic here.

Hehehe cool luck beats skill everytime but remember luck works both ways next time attending to a bulb. I remember lots of farting around for brief intervals of function till I just Swatted it in frustration and volia became routine and worked runing till next shut down start up.
