I bought a pair of carb manifolds for my new-to-me MKIII motor a while back on ebay. Recently I measured the inlet & exhaust ends, and the hole near the cross-over tube is 32mm and the opposite is 30mm. Inside the manifolds the number 065195 is stamped (yes, 065195). Both ends should be 32mm (the p/n for 32mm manifolds is 062711, and I have also seen 30mm manifolds, p/n 060509). Obviously these won’t work on my engine, and getting proper ones shouldn’t be a problem. These look like Norton manifolds, but I cannot find the 065195 number. Anyone know what these are? Thanks in advance.Dave
The tapered 32mm x 30mm manifolds sometimes have 06-5196 crudely lettered inside--best to check the internal diameters at each end with calipers or a micrometer. The ones I've looked at are very close to the nominal values

So how did they stamp inside such an awkward area ?
They employed little helpers from Santa Claus when they were not busy durning the Christmas rush.So how did they stamp inside such an awkward area ?
Oh , Elves. They employed little helpers from Santa Claus when they were busy durning the Christmas rush.

O.K. , So It's not stamped by Santa's elves , but actually part of the casting process. Thanks , ( just was curious ). I'll look at mine next time the carbs are off.If examined closely then it can be seen that the number isn't a stamp but what I think is an imprint left by the casting core (which in turn would have got the number stamp from the core mould).
My 850 Mk3's 32-32mm manifolds have the number 06.2727.

Thought about that. Extra turbulence factor. Elves factor. Why on the inside?
It detracts from the smooth intake port.
