Dellorto's like that do not have chrome slides, the slides can wear over a long period but that is neglect.
It seems odd that with all the Norton carburetor talk no one has tried a set of 32 mm round slide pumper Dellorto's.

I doubted my 35mm FCRs would. I'd have given up and declared it un-possible if I hadn't known others had done it, somehow. Shoehorn, crowbar, and vaseline help.
In the early eighties Ducatis used to arrive in Canada with 32 or 34mm Dellorto pumpers on. It was common to fit the "continental kit" which consisted of an open exhaust system and 40mm pumpers. This meant that there were a few brand new sets of the smaller carbs laying around unwanted at dealers. I picked up a pair relatively cheap but unfortunately my car was stolen and, when recovered the carbs were gone so I never got to try them. The most famous Norton to run Dellortos was the Ron Woods Norton flat tracker which was very trick and used to run well against the factory Harleys of the day.
Don’t know what all the fuss is about.
I have a pair of jap carbs that have Teflon coated slides, it wears like any other slide over high mileage, I just replace them when they get worn out.
