I.D. tag removal

Hi all,
does anyone have suggestions about the best way to remove the VIN # aluminium tag from the steering head without damaging it? The last time I did it, I decapitated the rivets, but found the remaining stubs of the rivets were extremely hard to drill out. In addition, I damaged the tabs at the corners. It seems there should be a simpler way.

If you have dremel cut a slot for a screw driver to fit in it works for me Phil

Grind the heads off carefully, remove the tag, grind the remainder, centerpunch the stub out of the hole.

Done.

Thanks to you both, Norton-Villier and Grandpaul. I will try the screwdriver variation first and, if I fsil with that, will try the other.
