Mick Hemmings states his magnesium cased 5 and 6 speeders weigh 7.6kg, which is 2kg lighter than standard so 9.6kg which, in English is 16.75lbs.

I just weighed a 72 trans at 8.36kg and it has oil in it. No sprocket or levers etc.

Aw my Peel is weight conscious and of course wants to loose weight by eating extra heavy deserts, ugh.
Appreciate info on the range of magnium 16-17 lb and alloy AMC 18-19 lb for my crude calorie counting. ITT alloy 4 spd with kick device arrived, it weighs 23 lb, which means ~1 hp more to accelerate the extra 5 lb. Peel can spare that for the bullet proofing. One fact of life I face is how often I must lift a cycle while injured or be stranded a good while so the lower CoG may help upright itself if not too far down a slope off grade. Guess if I take off the old frame powder coat could get a bit more trim.

I have a rebuilt unit here all covers on no levers or oil 18.8 LBS all dead stock. Probably too late to help but hey.

Yes it helps nail down a final number in my head for run of the mill AMC tranny and lets me subtract better so 23.2 lb - 18.8 = 4.6 lb of extra robustness. Shoot i could just go bare foot and get that back, so to speak. I'd like to be able to lift Peel but likely just parts of her at a time. Hm may find someone that could for a cool photo. Ordered with reverse CCW shifter shaft rotation which eliminates a couple lbs complexity of linkage so get to scab up a lever with folding sturup out of old steel spline end and alloy peg end. Maybe can brass peg rivet for more steam punky.
