Looks like a 74 MK2a with some goodies on it. EI ignition and wheels to begin with. Could have been registered in 75 from the dealer. This aspect fools a lot of people as to the true date of production. What does the tag on the neck say?

Hi Gigi,

like AntrimMan said, not a 1975. 1975 models had an electric starter and had shifter on the left and brake on the right. Yours is either 1973 or 1974 model 850. I can't tell which, but someone on this forum can probably tell you.

Gigi,
Except for the paint, looks like the 74 I had in 74. Nice bike, sorry about your grandfater, tough way to get a great bike.

Gigi,

The bike is a little earlier than 1975 - '74 or possibly '73 even? The engine number gives the game away!

The real clue as to the model would be the air filter assembly, but it has an aftermarket K&N fitted.
It also has an electronic ignition (Lucas RITA), which is a good thing.

In its present condition (cleaned, of course!) it is worth 5K Euros, possibly a little more, but certainly not less - it looks pretty good ;)

Edit: just looked again - it's a MKIIa - the LH sidepanel has a fastener on the bottom.

Welcome! He means on the steering neck of the frame. Where the forks pivot, facing the front is a red aluminum tag, it will have Serial number and Date of manufacture. Looks like a nice motorcycle.

Electronic Ignition, Not electric start. The electronic Ignition replaces the points and AAU unit. Makes for easier to adjust and more reliable ignition system.

thanks
so you think that it's value is only 5000€? what kind of restore is needed?

Re: Help Me , information about my Norton commandos 850cc 19

I think realistically 3000€ to 4000€ in it's current state. There are numerous items that would need to be addressed for safety and function. It looks like a nice complete bike that would be great for somone to get familiar with learning and fixing along the way.

Re: Help Me , information about my Norton commandos 850cc 19

Definitely a 74. Except for dirt and some rust looks like the one in my garage. Except for K&N and electronic ignition I bet everything is original. Engine number is definitely 74.

Re: Help Me , information about my Norton commandos 850cc 19

I'm with Bwolfie on that one. The side cover is installed wrong. The tab needs to go behind the Z plate. I would like to see a picture of the top triple clamp between the speedo and tach cups please.

Re: Help Me , information about my Norton commandos 850cc 19

If running well and with a good clean up you should get at least 6000 euros going on current prices in Germany .

good luck

Re: Help Me , information about my Norton commandos 850cc 19

Gigi,

Again, your bike is before 1975 as it is NOT electric start and it shifts on the left side.

As the guys said, it is likely a 1973 or 1974.

And it is a "Roadster", because you have the smaller steel gas tank.

So now the big question, you can sell it as is and maybe get around 4000 euros or decide to keep it.

In which case you should mentally prepare yourself to taking the time to get a shop manual and really learn about your bike and how to work it. Commandos ARE fairly high maintanance machines and you need to know and
understand everything about it!

Also, others may disagree, but if you are going to keep it you are going to have to spend some money on fixing and replacing some parts, this is not a turnkey bike, it is going to need time, work, and some money.
