There were heat insulating gaskets on my 750 Commando's inlet manifolds before I replaced them with a single carburettor. Does anyone know where I can get a similar gasket for the single manifold or material to make one (it looks likes bakelite). What if I don't use one?

Mine are made out of Tufnol, a phenolic laminate, which you can buy cheaply by the sheet here:

You can make your own out of a little piece of hardwood. Better than any synthetic stuff.

If your carb is rubber mounted you don't need them if its not you will cos the petrol in the float bowl will boil off. Ask my mate Tim :lol:
