Some Harley Davidsons (Sportsters?) use a similar but more powerful (4 field coil) version of the Prestolite electric starter as fitted to the 850 Mk3, and it is possible to uprate the Norton starter using the H-D Prestolite field coils and brush plate, but due to differences in armatures and drive end caps the H-D Prestolite isn't a direct replacement for the Norton starter.

Wow that's a good price for a running MK3

A very easy "upgrade", you also need to upgrade the cables. From a boat supply store, I got a heavier gauge wire and soldered on the connectors. The four brush starter works better than the stock. Now I have one of these:

It works much better than the 4 brush Prestolight, fits with no modification. With the Odyssey battery it spins the motor with ease. I'll pass on the LI battery for now.
