Getting grief from my two young daughters cos they wanna ride on the Norton, which has hitherto been a solo bike (tranquility of solitude etc).

Hacked these out of some old engine plates, will introduce them to the wonderful world of Nortons forthwith !

Nigel,
What spring poundage did you specify for the Falcons. For occasional two up use 110 lb is about right but just for solo use 90 to 100 lb seems good. Just wondering.
Martyn.

Fast Eddie,
Been there done it and got the medals. Followed by a gaggle of granddaughters and a grandson, and if the Commando and I keep going, soon to followed by twin great grandsons.

Such is life :)

Martyn, I have 90lbs springs and they feel fine, but interestingly I looked closely at some 'action shots' taken at Mallory and could see that the shocks were quite close to bottoming out. I've since wound up the pre-load another 10mm, so I'll see what they're like, but I suspect I need 100lbs springs. Or a diet.

Dave, sounds like you're a few generations ahead of me there sir, well done!

Because the spring strength and rate on the rear shocks affects the way the bike squats when you power out of corners, it changes the rake which affects the way the bike steers. The main factor to consider is your own body weight. How much do you weigh, Eddie ?

14 stone, or 89kg if you prefer.

I haven't actually weighed myself all kitted out though...

Nothing griefy about that request. You will of course have to purchase a small helmet that fits both and riding wear, They will like that.

I'm sure you'll enjoy taking them for rides. I used to take my middle grandson out on the back of my Norton when he was younger, and now (he's about to turn 22) we ride together regularly. We just got back this afternoon from a Sunday morning ride, with him on the MK3 we built together for this year's rally, and me on an MZ Baghira. As soon as I finish my MK3, we'll both be on Nortons. Something for you to look forward to.

Ken

Around here, as soon as our little children's helmet fits, they get to ride outside the ranch. Anything and everything.

'Till then, they can only plod around the ranch with dad/gramps in this slug-

I remembering picking up my daughter from Middle School one afternoon on my Commando. Big line of Mini Vans waiting and me on the Norton. Guess who was the coolest kid in school the next day...
