Although still not completely sorted, the engine is in very good shape; starts well, pulls strong and sounds great. Cruising at 50mph+ seems to really settle things down but I was hearing a subtle tink tink tink sound occasionally; like a loose washer somewhere. Tightened up the tank nuts (they were a bit loose) but still, a quiet tinking noise to my hyper senstive ear. After much puzzling, I found the source: the bike bell.

Do you have the lock washers on the exhaust nuts?? I know on mine, the one side the washer is just loose enough or the exhaust nut is tight enough that it makes a jingle noise once in a while. I've just never bother to give the exhaust nut that list little bit of TQ to eliminate the noise.

I guess good news is that at least I know it's not loosening up.

Its likely Al Ominum .

used to be particular to quitely bring the thing up to temp before getting entusiastic . Once haveing done so it pays to gradually bring
pace down as you approach home . Thermal retching / heat soak , as the internal temp trys to get out through the allready heatsoaked
bits outside , can get waffle iron effects . castings & gaskets realigning and so on .

So whats a few ' tings ' from down there ( the fins / head ) between close friends . :P
